About product

The battleship Gneisenau, 1:1200, Revell

An injection-molded plastic kit of the German battleship Gneisenau in the small collector's scale of 1:1200. Thanks to its small size the model is a quick and undemanding build, yet it captures the characteristic silhouette of the ship. The package contains decals and a detailed deck for a faithful finish.

The real subject

Along with her sister ship Scharnhorst, the Gneisenau was one of the two main units of her class in the Kriegsmarine. She entered service in the second half of the 1930s and in the Second World War took part in operations in the Atlantic, including the well-known sorties against Allied convoys. She was notable for her high speed and heavy armor.

Building and painting tips

Cut the small parts off carefully and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. In this scale an airbrush and fine brushes work well for bringing out the deck and the superstructures; fix the decals with a matte coat. The model can be set on a stand or worked into a waterline diorama.

Who the model is for

  • For collectors of warships in small scales
  • For modelers who want a quick and effective kit
  • For anyone interested in the Kriegsmarine of the Second World War

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
