An injection-molded plastic kit of the airborne early warning and control aircraft Boeing E-3A Sentry in 1:144 scale. The model captures the unmistakable silhouette of the machine derived from the Boeing 707 airliner, with a large rotating radar dish (a rotodome) carried on two pylons above the rear of the fuselage. The kit is intended for more experienced modelers; it contains parts for a faithful rendition of the fuselage, the wings, the engine nacelles and the radar antenna, and a decal sheet with the markings. The E-3 Sentry is an American aircraft of the AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System), that is of airborne early warning and control. Its rotating radar dish, over nine meters across, makes it possible to track air and ground traffic over a great distance and to coordinate the deployment of friendly aircraft. The machine has served since the end of the 1970s with the US Air Force and in the multinational forces of NATO, where it fills the role of a flying command and surveillance post. Power comes from four jet engines under the wings.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic, and sand the fuselage joints and the leading edges once they have dried. The large smooth areas of the fuselage and the wings will appreciate an undercoat (primer) and an airbrushed coat, which gives a more even result on large single-color areas than a brush. Assemble and fine-tune the radar dish and its pylons separately, so that it sits level. Mask the cockpit glazing before spraying.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
