This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:144 scale captures the American piston-engine airliner Convair CV-340. The kit is completed by a decal sheet for operators of the aircraft and suits collectors of airliners as well as builders who want to grow a collection of mid-20th-century aircraft in a small scale.
The CV-340 was a twin-engine piston airliner with a pressurized cabin developed in the 1950s. It came about by stretching the earlier CV-240, which let it take more passengers, and it also received a greater wingspan for better performance at altitude. Convairs of this family became the backbone of regional traffic with a number of airlines.
In the small 1:144 scale the smooth gloss finish typical of airliners plays the key role. Apply a good primer and putty and sand the joints carefully. Silver and polished surfaces come out best with metallic paints sprayed by airbrush onto a smooth base. Let the decals dry on a gloss coat so that no silvering edges appear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
