Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet MiG-29 fighter in the small 1:144 scale from Academy. The box holds a gray plastic sprue, a clear sprue for the cockpit and a decal sheet; the latter offers Soviet Air Force markings. It is a quick build for one or two evenings, which suits both as an addition to a collection and as a first acquaintance with a plastic model.
The MiG-29 is a twin-engined frontline fighter that the Soviet Union brought into service in the first half of the 1980s. Characteristic features are the smooth blending of the wing into the fuselage, the widely spaced engines and the large intakes, which are closed off by a door while taxiing to stop debris being sucked up off the ground. The aircraft was designed as a lighter and more numerous complement to the heavy Su-27 and, in various versions, serves to this day with dozens of air forces, several European states included.
The fuselage is split horizontally, so fill and sand the lengthwise joint carefully; in this scale every irregularity shows. The leading edges of the engine intakes are thicker in this mold than they should be, and it pays to thin them carefully from the inside with a sharp knife. In the small scale, Soviet gray camouflage is best sprayed with heavily thinned paint in thin coats; go very lightly on washes and dust effects so that the model does not look dirty.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
