An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Pontiac Firebird GTA sports car of the 1987 model year in the large 1:16 scale from the maker Revell. The large scale means a respectably big and richly broken-down model. According to the maker it is a more demanding kit with parts that open - removable roof panels (T-tops), an opening hood, doors and a rear hatch, pop-up headlights and steerable front wheels.
The Pontiac Firebird was an American sports car (a pony car) of the Pontiac brand of the General Motors group. The top form of the third generation carried the designation GTA and for 1987 it was the most powerful and best equipped Firebird. Under the hood worked a 5.7-liter V8 (350 cu in) with multipoint fuel injection, complemented by the WS6 sports chassis package and sixteen-inch alloy wheels. A smooth nose, a wraparound rear spoiler and aerodynamic side skirts made the GTA the elegant peak of the Firebird line.
In a large scale every detail comes out - the engine, the interior and the chassis deserve careful work. Spray the body with a primer and paint it with a rich color, then coat it with a clear for depth and polish it. The model has no chrome-plated parts, so paint the glossy and aluminum surfaces with metallic paints. Fit the glazing and the removable roof only after painting and clear-coating. Glue the plastic with liquid cement for polystyrene; dry-fit the parts that open in advance.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
