Baseball was the most popular pastime among American soldiers. Equipment was sent to the front directly by organizations at home, and games were played on airfields, in rear camps and on the decks of ships. A glove hung on the fender of a jeep or a bat propped against a crate is therefore not an invention but a picture documented at the time. In a scene it explains at once that this is a quiet moment between the fighting.
Build the leather parts from a dark base toward lighter edges and add a slight satin sheen, because new leather shines.
