A large plastic model of the British M10 Achilles IIc tank destroyer in the large 1:16 scale from Andy's Hobby Headquarters.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in the large 1:16 scale from Andy's Hobby Headquarters captures the British M10 Achilles tank destroyer in the IIc version. The large scale allows an exceptional amount of detail: the model offers a metal gun barrel, individual (assembled) track links, working suspension, a finely worked gun breech and equipment for the fighting compartment, and a figure is included in the package as well. The kit was created in cooperation with Takom.
The Achilles was the British modification of the American M10 tank destroyer. The original American 3-inch gun was replaced by the more powerful British 17-pounder anti-tank weapon (of 76.2 mm caliber), thanks to which the Achilles became one of the most effective Allied tank destroyers, able to destroy even heavy German armored targets. The open rotating turret combined firepower with mobility; the vehicles were used in the closing phase of the Second World War in Western Europe.
A large model rewards careful preparation: finish and paint the running gear, the gun breech and the interior of the fighting compartment before you close them up. Assemble the individual track links patiently according to the instructions, and the metal barrel can be fine-tuned with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before airbrushing. The large surface of the model comes to life with color transitions, details picked out with a wash and dust or mud pigments for weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
