A sizable injection-molded plastic model of the American M4A3E8 Thunder VII (Easy Eight) medium tank in the large 1:16 scale from the I Love Kit brand. Thanks to the 1:16 scale it is an exceptionally large and detailed model - the finished tank measures over 47 cm. The kit contains a great many parts and also metal parts (a barrel, a spring, copper cable, a shaft and a chain) and photo-etched metal. The exact number of parts and marking schemes is not stated here.
The M4A3E8, nicknamed the Easy Eight, was one of the most advanced versions of the legendary Sherman tank. It was notable for improved armor, a powerful 76 mm gun and HVSS suspension (horizontal volute spring suspension), which gave a smoother ride and better mobility over rough ground. Thunder VII is among the well known individual machines; the Easy Eight version served at the close of the Second World War and afterward in the Korean War as well.
The large 1:16 scale shows to advantage with precision - it pays to assemble and paint the HVSS running gear, the wheels and the tracks before the hull is closed up. Bond the metal parts (the barrel, the chain, the cable) with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) and the plastic with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Apply a primer before painting and spray the base color with an airbrush in thin coats. In a large scale, layered transitions, edge highlighting with a dry brush, dark washes in the recesses and pigments for dust and mud effects on the chassis and the tracks all show to advantage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
