A plastic kit of the British DH-9A biplane in 1:72 scale, in a version with markings from Middle Eastern service. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The DH-9A was a British single-engine biplane from the end of the First World War, used as a light bomber and reconnaissance machine. It was powered by the American Liberty V12, which gave it considerably more power than its predecessor. In the 1920s it was one of the mainstays of the Royal Air Force on long patrol flights over the vast and poorly accessible territory of the Middle East, which is where the subtitle on this box comes from.
This is a plastic model kit in 1:72 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the contents of the box and the list of marking options are given in the enclosed instructions. A biplane of this type is a build for a modeler who already has some experience: the flying surfaces have to be set parallel and at the correct spacing.
Separate the parts with sprue cutters and sand down what is left after the cut so that they seat without a gap. Fit the upper wing only once the struts have dried and keep checking that it stays parallel to the lower wing and on the vertical axis. It pays to paint before the model is closed up by the assembly of both wings, because once they are glued the lower surfaces are hard to reach. The bracing wires between the wings are not part of the kit; they are made from fine thread or wire right at the end.
Paints, glue and the material for the bracing are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
