A set of waterslide decals for a model of the racing BMW 320 of the first generation in Group 5 specification, in 1:24 scale. It matches the car of a well known German racing stable from the 1980 season with its sponsor markings. It is not a kit, but markings on their own for a model of your own.
The year 1980 was the peak season for Group 5 cars. The rules allowed almost anything under a preserved silhouette, so machines appeared on the circuits with extreme fenders, turbocharged engines and aerodynamics that no longer resembled a production car at all. It is from this era that the best known liveries come, and modelers return to them even decades later.
Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat; on a matte surface a silvery veil will appear under them. Cut the sheet close to the motif so that no visible border is left along the edge. Dip a decal in water for only a few seconds and let it release on the backing paper; do not pull it with tweezers. Lay large areas of markings from the center toward the edges and squeeze the water out with a soft cloth. On edges and recessed detail use decal softener and press the film down with a cotton swab. Once dry, give the model a clear coat so that the edges blend into the surface.
