The kit in 1:24 scale captures the sports version of the Datsun Bluebird 1600 SSS sedan. It is a special release which, according to the name, also holds a figure of a girl in period clothing of the 1960s — the combination of a car and a figure suits a small diorama or brings a display case to life. The number of parts, the breakdown of the figure and the decal schemes enclosed are stated on the box and in the enclosed instructions.
The Bluebird of the 510 generation was sold from the second half of the 1960s and was among the cars that opened the way to world markets for the Japanese brands. The SSS sports version was powered by an inline four-cylinder engine of about 1.6 liters and differed from the ordinary versions in the tuning of the suspension and in the interior fit. The car also made its mark in competition, where its low weight and tough design helped it.
The body of a sedan is made up of large flat areas on which every shortcoming in the preparation shows — a filler primer and sanding between coats pay off. Spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats, apply the decals onto a gloss base and use a softener so that they settle into the engraving. Paint the figure separately and only once the interior is finished: clean up the parting lines, apply a base coat and build the skin shades up with glazes starting from the lightest tone. Glue it into the car as the last step.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
