A photo-etched detail set for the instrument panel of the British Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 fighter in 1:24 scale from Airscale. It is not an aircraft kit but a cockpit accessory that replaces the plain instrument panel from the plastic kit. The set combines multi-layer photo-etched metal, waterslide decals for the dials and clear film simulating the instrument glass.
The Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and mixed construction, its fuselage built on a steel tube frame covered with fabric. The Mk.I version formed the backbone of the fighter defense during the Battle of Britain, where Hurricanes shot down the largest number of enemy aircraft. This set reproduces the cockpit with its period British instrument layout faithfully.
Separate the etched parts and line them up according to the instructions, glue them with cyanoacrylate (super glue) and work with tweezers. Lay the dial decals onto the etched openings and, once dry, go over them with a drop of gloss varnish for a glass effect. Paint the base of the panel in the typical dark cockpit color before you lay the decals down.
This is a detail set, not an aircraft model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
