A photo-etched detail set for the instrument panel of the American North American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:24 scale from Airscale. This is not an aircraft kit but a cockpit accessory replacing the simplified instrument panel from the Airfix kit. The set brings together multi-layer photo-etched metal, waterslide decals for the dials and clear film simulating the instrument glass.
The P-51D Mustang was an American single-seat long-range fighter powered by the Packard Merlin engine (a license-built Rolls-Royce). The D version was marked out by its teardrop bubble canopy and six 12.7 mm machine guns. Its long range let it escort Allied bombers deep over German territory, and it became one of the most successful fighters of the Second World War.
Separate the etched parts carefully and line them up according to the instructions, glue them with cyanoacrylate (super glue) and use tweezers. Lay the dial decals onto the etched openings and, once dry, go over them with a drop of gloss varnish for a glass effect. Paint the base of the panel in a dark cockpit color (US interior) before you apply the decals.
This is a detail set, not an aircraft model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
