Fine Molds 1:72 F-4J Phantom Aardvarks is an injection-molded plastic kit of the American McDonnell Douglas F-4J carrier fighter in its Vietnam War form.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the F-4J Phantom II carrier fighter and strike aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Japanese brand Fine Molds. The model captures the naval version of the Phantom with correctly shaped inner wing pylons and the longer missile rails typical of carrier machines. The decal sheet offers several US Navy marking options from the Vietnam War era, among them machines of the VF-114 Aardvarks squadron.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4J was the ultimate carrier version of the Phantom II for the US Navy and Marine Corps. It was powered by two General Electric J79 jet engines, carried a powerful radar and a wide range of guided air-to-air missiles. In Vietnam it served as a fighter and as a strike machine and became one of the symbols of Cold War naval aviation.
Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the mold seams. A primer is recommended before spraying, and the shades should be laid down with an airbrush in coats. It is a good idea to mask the cockpit glazing; the naval scheme suits a combination of a light underside and gray upper surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
