A detailed injection-molded plastic model of the rally car Opel Ascona 400 in 1:24 scale from the Belgian brand Belkits. The set captures the car from the 1982 Monte Carlo Rally, with which Walter Röhrl and his co-driver Christian Geistdörfer took victory. Besides the plastic parts, the package contains a photo-etched fret, clear parts, rubber tires, fabric seat belts and quality decals with the racing finish of the day. It is a finely worked kit for more experienced modelers.
The Opel Ascona 400 was a rear-wheel-drive rally car with which Walter Röhrl took the drivers' world title in 1982. It was among the last notable representatives of the rear-axle-drive era in the world championship, before the turbocharged four-wheel-drive Group B cars took over the scene. The car was famous for its balance and its reliability on demanding rally stages.
Glue the plastic parts with a modeling cement for plastic; bond the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the body with an airbrush over a primer, polish it to a high gloss and only then apply the decals onto the glossy base, so that no silvering appears at the edges. The interior with its roll cage, belts and instrument panel repays careful work, because it is clearly visible through the windows.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
