The Volkswagen 1200 is the basic version of a car that became one of the most widespread automobiles in history. An air-cooled flat-four engine at the rear, a load-bearing platform floorpan and a simple suspension with torsion bars made up a design that practically did not change for decades. The version from the start of the sixties differs from the later ones in small things around the windows, the lights and the bumpers, so markings tied to a particular year make sense.
Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat; on a matte surface a silvery veil will appear under them. Cut the sheet close to the motif so that no visible border is left along the edge. Dip a decal in water for only a few seconds and let it release on the backing paper; do not pull it with tweezers. Lay large areas of markings from the center toward the edges and squeeze the water out with a soft cloth. On edges and recessed detail use decal softener and press the film down with a cotton swab. Once dry, give the model a clear coat so that the edges blend into the surface.
