Quickboost 1:32 Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, wipers (for HKM / Hong Kong Models) is a resin detail set that replaces the coarse plastic wipers of the pilot windshield with fine parts. It is not a kit, and you have to own the model itself.

Right at the outset: you are not buying a model of the bomber. This is a resin detail set from Quickboost (a line by the manufacturer Aires) in 1:32 scale, shaped for the giant B-17 kit from HKM (Hong Kong Models). You have to own the kit itself, as this set only exchanges the wipers on the pilot windshield.
A wiper has a shape that an injection mold cannot manage: long, narrow, flat. Plastic will not flow into such a cavity, so manufacturers have no choice and the part is thickened, rounded and simplified, or left out of the kit altogether. The result then sits right on the windshield of the cockpit, in other words on one of the few places every viewer looks at first. Cast resin does not suffer from this limitation and manages the profile at a realistic thickness. On the 1:32 B-17 from HKM it makes sense for one more reason: this is a large and demanding model on which every simplified part is proportionally bigger and more conspicuous. On a build that will take you months and half a display case, that detail is worth the few minutes it costs.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress is an American four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War and a symbol of the daylight strategic bombing of Europe. It went down in history above all for the legendary toughness of its structure: crews brought machines home with surfaces shot through and engines out. Hence the name Flying Fortress.
Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, as mold release agent clings to the surface and paint would not hold on it. The wipers are cut off the casting block with a fine saw or a sharp knife and are never snapped off; with a profile that slender the break is guaranteed to go wrong. Bonding: cement for polystyrene is useless, and resin is joined with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) or epoxy. Do any sanding wet, as resin dust is harmful to health and must not be inhaled. Fit the wipers right at the very end, after painting and glazing, because on a model of this size you will handle it often during the build and a thin part would not survive that.
