This replacement for the pilot's compartment is aimed at the large kit from the brand Trumpeter, on which the cockpit is the dominant feature of the whole model once the canopy is open. The package is listed as the basic edition, which includes 3D decals for the instrument section. These are stuck onto a finished surface and, thanks to their layered structure, come across more convincingly than a flat print. Neither the aircraft nor its plastic parts are in the delivery.
The cockpit of the Lightning II went through modifications during series production, and later machines differ from the first examples in the arrangement of the controls and in the shape of some covers. The set captures this newer state, so it suits machines in their present-day form. A characteristic feature is the large touchscreen panel, which replaced the classic array of small dials, and the ejection seat with its own shaping of the headrest.
Try the fit into the fuselage dry before you glue anything, because the replacement tub tends to be somewhat bulkier than the original part. Remove the print supports working away from the visible surfaces. Apply the 3D decals only onto a finished and dried coat of paint and press them down gently, so that they cling to the relief.
