The exhaust of the F-35B Lightning II in full deflection toward the ground, 1:32 scale from the brand Reskit corresponds to the moment of a vertical landing. Intended for the Trumpeter kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A vertical landing turns a supersonic fighter for a few tens of seconds into a machine hanging above a surface. Reskit has cast the exhaust in full deflection toward the ground, that is in the form it has just before touching down on a deck or on a hard surface without a runway. The target kit is Trumpeter.
The stream of gases points straight down, the lift fan pushes air to the ground ahead of the center of gravity, and from each wing roll-control nozzles act vertically downward, keeping the machine in lateral balance. The combination of the hot exhaust and the cold stream from the fan is the reason why ship decks for this type are given a more resistant surface treatment. The deflected rear part at the same time looks completely different than in ordinary flight and becomes the most conspicuous element of the whole silhouette. The machine uses the same arrangement when touching down on a marked area far from hard airfields.
A model with the exhaust turned this way makes the most sense on a stand, because in the hover extended landing gear loses its point. It pays to grade the metallic shades on the petals: lighter inside, darkened toward the mouth. Rubbing with graphite will give the petals a metallic sheen without any need to reach for a gloss paint.
The content is the exhaust part of the propulsion, not the whole aircraft.
