A set of two resin GBU-24 bombs in the B version in 1:32 scale. The manufacturer lists the individual subversions of the GBU-24 as separate items and tells them apart by a letter in brackets after the type designation. The GBU-24 is a laser-guided bomb of the Paveway III family with large folding surfaces at the rear and a guidance section at the front. Which particular feature makes the B version different in the casting is not specified here.
In a large scale the external munitions from a base kit often look simplified: the stabilizing surfaces are thicker than they should be because of the mold, and a parting line runs across the whole surface and has to be sanded away. On a resin casting the parting line is limited to the casting block, so the shape stays clean and the edges sharp. The pair in the package makes it possible to load the aircraft symmetrically, which is the usual configuration for laser-guided munitions.
Wash and degrease the parts before building. Separate the casting block with a fine-toothed saw and clean the surface up with abrasive paper used wet. Check that the fins are flat; any warping can be corrected by a short dip in hot water and holding the part flat until it cools. Strengthen the joint with the pylon with a wire pin, because cyanoacrylate glue on its own is brittle on a smooth surface. Spray over a base coat, otherwise the paint holds poorly on resin; at the end a discreet wash and fine wear on the edges suit, so that the munitions do not look as if they had come straight off the production line.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
