1:32 Grumman Duck J2F-5 - Airbrush Maks Set (for Lukgraph Kits)

1 Man Army 1:32 marking masks for the Grumman J2F-5 Duck for the Lukgraph kit

Laser-cut self-adhesive masks in 1:32 scale for spraying the markings. The maker, the Belgian brand 1 Man Army, intended them for the Grumman J2F-5 Duck model from the Polish brand Lukgraph and lists them under the number 32DET064.

What the set solves

Instead of decals the markings are sprayed, so they lie directly in the paint and have no rim that would go glossy on a matte surface. According to the manufacturer the set holds sheets with cut patterns for the roundels, the identification letters and numbers, the unit markings and the technical stencils, and with them pictorial instructions for placement. The masks are of low-tack tape and single use is assumed.

The real subject

The Grumman J2F Duck was an American amphibious biplane with a central float blended into the fuselage and with retractable landing gear, so it took off from water as well as from a hard surface. With the US Navy and the Coast Guard it served in auxiliary roles: photography, target towing, transport, and search and rescue of downed airmen. The J2F-5 version was powered by an air-cooled Wright Cyclone R-1820 radial engine and was built from 1941.

Usage tips

Lukgraph builds its models from resin and 3D printing, so apply the masks only to a primer that is fully cured, not to bare resin. Degrease the surface, transfer the mask with tweezers and press the edges down thoroughly, especially on the ribbed surface of a biplane. Spray the thinnest coats that will go through, and peel the mask off before the paint hardens completely.

These are masks for painting the model, not a kit. The Lukgraph base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
