This is an accessory set, not a model of the aircraft. It contains resin parts that complete the cockpit of the kit. In the large 1:32 scale the cockpit is a space you really can see into, and the difference between relief suggested in the mold and separately cast elements is immediately noticeable. On the He 162 it is all the more pronounced because the canopy sits high and is well glazed, so everyone looks inside.
The Heinkel He 162 was a German single-seat jet fighter from the very end of the Second World War. Its most striking feature is the position of the engine: the powerplant sits on top of the fuselage spine, right behind the cockpit, so the aircraft needed no long intake ducts. The tail is formed by a pair of fins at the tips of the horizontal surface, to keep them clear of the exhaust stream. The machine came about as an emergency project built from available materials, with a large proportion of wood.
The set is for modelers who build German jets in a large scale and want a cockpit that stands up to a close look. Working with resin is not difficult, but it differs from plastic.
It is not a model of the aircraft. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
