This set of paint masks from the Czech brand AML is intended for large models of the Airacobra Mk.I and P-47D-10 aircraft in 1:32 scale and follows on as part two from the previous set in the line. The masks are laid on the model and the sprayed paint produces a perfectly sharp boundary, with no shaking hand, no paint bleeding under the edge and no laborious brush outlining. It is precisely in 1:32 scale, where every millimeter shows, that clean boundaries between colors make a decisive difference.
The Airacobra Mk.I was the export version of the American Bell P-39 fighter, with the engine mounted behind the pilot and a cannon firing through the propeller hub. The Republic P-47D-10 Thunderbolt was by contrast a bulky aircraft with a radial engine and a fuselage spine running smoothly back behind the cockpit. Both types reached service well outside American hands and are rewarding subjects for bold camouflage and marking schemes.
The surface of the model must be polished and dust-free before masking. Lift the mask off with tweezers, lay it on the place intended and press the edges down lightly with a small spatula so that the paint does not bleed under. Spray thin coats square to the surface and remove the mask while the paint is only touch-dry, as the edge then stays at its sharpest. Store unused masks flat on their backing sheet, and they will keep for another project.
These are paint masks for painting, not a model kit. Paints, glue and a kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
