Reskit offers a model of the American airfield vehicle that serves to hang bombs and rockets under the wings and fuselage of combat aircraft. The name gives the lower loading position, that is the state in which the lifting section is folded down and ready to take a load. The model is built and painted on its own; neither an aircraft nor munitions come with it.
Without a lift truck, heavy loads would get under an aircraft only with great difficulty. The crew drives under the pylon, the hydraulics carry the load up and a fine adjustment settles it into the lock. These trucks are therefore moving between the parking stands the whole time, and in photographs from airfields and ship decks they tend to be right beside the machines. In a scene they add what the aircraft alone will never show: the everyday work of the ground crew.
Before gluing it is worth rinsing the parts in lukewarm soapy water and letting them dry, so that the base coat holds. Choose the glue to suit the nature of the parts. Fine frames and rods deserve a thin coat of paint, so that the detail is not lost. Derive the shade and the degree of wear from photographs of the particular period and unit: working machinery tends to be chipped, dirtied by grease and marked with warning lettering.
The vehicle is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints and glue are not sent with it, unless stated otherwise.
