A cargo bay for the OV-10 (A, C) Bronco in 1:32 scale. The accessory opens up the rear part of the nacelle on a large model of the turboprop machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory for the OV-10A and OV-10C versions deals with the rear part of the nacelle, that is the space behind the crew seats. Reskit has concentrated the walls, the floor and the internal divisions here, which can be shown to the viewer once the door has been cut out. In a large scale it is one of the few places on the model where something other than the cockpit or a landing gear bay can be opened.
Behind the crew cockpit the OV-10 had a small stowage space reached by a door at the rear. Stretchers, cargo or several soldiers would fit into it, so besides directing and reconnaissance the machine managed small transport tasks as well. That is exactly why it pays to open the space on a model: it is a feature that sets the Bronco apart from single-purpose observation aircraft, and it tells the viewer at once that this was a machine with more than one role.
Opening it means cutting out the door and cleaning up the opening, so a sharp scalpel, files and patience come in handy. It is advisable to paint and pick out the interior before gluing it into the nacelle, because afterward a brush can no longer get in there. A more saturated shade into the corners and a fine dry touch on the edges give the space depth. It is good to prop the open door until the glue has set, so that the angle matches reality.
