Airscale wing fold set TBD Devastator (1:32) makes it possible to display the model with realistically folded wings.
Responsibility details are not available.
This accessory from the British company Airscale is intended for a realistic display of the folded wings of the large 1:32 model of the TBD Devastator carrier aircraft. It contains detailed parts of the hinge mechanism and of the internal structure of the wing break, thanks to which the model can be built with the wings folded as the machines stood parked on the deck of an aircraft carrier. It is not an airplane model but an upgrade set.
As a carrier aircraft of the US Navy, the Douglas TBD Devastator had folding wings so that it took up as little room as possible in the hangar and on the deck. The wing break mechanism was a typical feature of the carrier aircraft of that time.
The work calls for careful cutting of the wing according to the instructions and for accurate gluing. Bond the fine parts with super glue and let the joints that carry the shape cure properly. Planning the sequence in advance, drawing on experience, is recommended.
This is an accessory, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue, paints and further accessories are not included in the package unless stated otherwise.
