An injection-molded plastic kit of the German half-track vehicle sWS with the 15 cm Panzerwerfer 42 rocket launcher in 1:35 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; instructions and a decal sheet are enclosed with the parts. Because of how intricate it is, the build is placed among the more demanding items of the maker.
The sWS, in full schwerer Wehrmachtschlepper, was a heavy half-track tractor of the period of the Second World War, designed as a simplified replacement for the earlier half-track types. In the Panzerwerfer 42 version it carried a ten-barrel 15 cm rocket launcher on an armored body, under which an armored compartment for storing the ammunition was placed. The weapon system originally came about for laying smoke screens; later it was used for firing high-explosive ammunition as well.
The running gear of the half-track is well visible on a finished model: finish and paint the rollers, the tracks and their tension before you cover them with the body and the fenders. Clean the barrels of the rocket launcher and their muzzles carefully, because a circular cross-section gives every unevenness away. Spray the base shade with an airbrush, bring the intricate armor out with a dark wash in the engraved lines and with a dry brush on the edges of the rivets and plates. Build the mud and dust effects with pigments from the bottom upward; the transition between the tracks and the fenders is the place where the weathering works hardest. Apply the decals onto a gloss base and finally even the surface out with a matte coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The glue, the paints and the accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
