An injection-molded plastic kit of the Standard N agricultural tractor in its 1934 to 1936 production form, in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. The kit offers richly detailed parts reproducing the engine, the chassis and the steering of the tractor, and decals are included as well. The assembled model is about 10.5 cm long. The difficulty is at an intermediate level.
The Standard N was one of the best-known agricultural tractors of the 1930s. It stood out for its simple and rugged design, its low cost and its reliability, and it became one of the symbols of farm mechanization of its day. Tractors of this type spread all over the world and were used in ordinary farming, in forestry and to drive stationary machinery, and that for many decades. The simple mechanics and the characteristic silhouette make it a rewarding subject for rural and interwar dioramas too.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with thin plastic cement. Attach the small engine and steering parts carefully and let them dry thoroughly. Paint and assemble the engine and the chassis before the final stages, and once the base color is down, bring out the castings and the edges. The tractor is a rewarding subject for weathering: washes, filters and pigments can render the mud, dust and wear of a working machine faithfully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
