About product

The British LGOC B-Type 3 t truck in 1:35 scale, a Miniart kit

A plastic kit of a British three-ton truck derived from the London B-Type bus, in 1:35 scale from the Ukrainian brand Miniart. Miniart is known for finely subdivided moldings and a richly worked-out chassis, so this kind of model belongs rather in the hands of a modeler who already has building experience.

The real subject

The B-Type bus of the London General Omnibus Company appeared in 1910 and became the first bus truly mass-produced in larger numbers. The vehicle had a wooden body structure on a ladder frame, chain or shaft drive to the rear axle depending on the version, and an open driver's position. It was precisely the simplicity and the availability of spare parts that meant the chassis was also used in a truck version for carrying roughly three tons of load. Vehicles of this type ran through London and in the rear areas during the First World War, where they served to move materiel and men.

Building and painting tips

Start the build with the frame and the chassis and let them cure on a flat surface, so that the model stands on all its wheels in the end. Paint the engine and the drivetrain before you cover them with the hood. On the wooden bed it pays to lay a base in a sand shade and over it a glaze in oil paint or a brown wash drawn in the direction of the grain. Paint the spoked wheels separately and fit them last. Keep the weathering restrained: dust on the lower part, darkened areas around the engine and rubbed edges on the bed and the steps are enough.

Who the model is for

  • Those interested in transport machinery of the early twentieth century
  • Modelers who build rear areas and logistics rather than combat vehicles
  • Builders of dioramas with an urban or rear-area setting
  • More experienced modelers who do not mind a subdivided chassis and small parts

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

It is the truck version. The vehicle is based on the chassis of the London B-Type bus, but the model represents the three-ton cargo version.

Rather not. Models from this brand tend to have a subdivided chassis and small parts, so they suit a modeler with a little experience and good tools.

The contents of the package are listed on the manufacturer's packaging.
