This plastic kit from the Ukrainian manufacturer MiniArt captures the German Type 170V passenger car with the open Cabriolet B body in 1:35 scale. MiniArt is renowned for richly broken-down kits of civilian vehicles with a well-worked interior, and the model shows to advantage on its own on a shelf as well as part of a diorama beside military vehicles and figures of the same scale.
The Type 170V, a product of the Mercedes-Benz works with the factory designation W136, was from its introduction in 1936 one of the most widespread German passenger cars of its day. It was powered by a four-cylinder engine of about 1.7 liters, hence the designation. The Cabriolet B body was the two-door open variant with four seats. Alongside civilian use, a number of the cars were taken into service during the Second World War as liaison and staff vehicles; after the war the type became the basis for the revival of German car production.
Assemble and paint the interior and the chassis before seating the body. A civilian finish suits gloss paintwork: polish the base and spray several thin coats, and add a gloss clear coat if you like. Military machines call for flat shades and restrained weathering: a fine wash into the panel lines, dusty fenders and wheel wells. Glue small parts such as the handles and the wipers on right at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
