An injection-molded plastic model of the Italian medium tank Carro Armato M13/40 in 1:35 scale from the Japanese brand Tamiya. The model faithfully captures the typical riveted construction of the hull and the turret, the running gear on bogies with leaf springs and the main 47mm gun. According to the manufacturer the box contains, besides the plastic parts, a photo-etched fret and a metal barrel, figures and decals for several marking options.
The Fiat-Ansaldo M13/40 was the main Italian medium tank of the Second World War. It was powered by a diesel eight-cylinder engine of about 125 horsepower and was armed with a 47mm gun in a hydraulically operated turret. It is best known from the fighting in North Africa, where it formed the backbone of the Italian armored units. Its riveted construction and thinner armor, however, made it vulnerable to Allied equipment.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts and the metal barrel with cyanoacrylate. On armored vehicles, assemble and paint the running gear before you close the hull. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush in thin coats. The richly riveted surface positively invites a wash to bring out the details; pigments and dust shades will evoke the atmosphere of the North African desert.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
