A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the T-55A medium tank in 1:35 scale from MiniArt, done as the version in Croatian service. It is a well worked-out kit with a rich breakdown of parts; MiniArt sets of this range usually include an interior, photo-etched parts, clear parts and individual track links. Hatches that can be opened make it possible to show the internal equipment. The exact contents of the box are stated by the manufacturer.
The T-55A is the modernized version of the Soviet T-55 medium tank with improved protection for the crew. Croatian T-55A tanks were committed during the wars that accompanied the breakup of Yugoslavia in the 1990s; they often carried field modifications and improvised armor. The tank has a low silhouette, a cast hemispherical turret, a 100 mm gun and a diesel engine.
Given the interior and the photo-etched parts, it is a build for more advanced modelers. First assemble and paint the inside of the hull and the turret, and only then close them up. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Primer, painting with an airbrush and weathering are recommended: washes in the recesses, filters to unify the tone and pigments on the running gear for dust and mud effects. With field modifications it pays to pick out the chipping and the rust.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
