An injection-molded plastic kit of the British light tracked reconnaissance vehicle Scimitar in the Mk2 version, in the configuration for service in Afghanistan. The set contains photo-etched parts and decals for four color schemes. The scale is 1:35.
The Scimitar belongs to the family of light tracked reconnaissance vehicles introduced in the British Army at the start of the 1970s. The vehicles are small, light and fast, which lets them get through where a heavy armored vehicle has no business going. Experience from Afghanistan led to part of the fleet being rebuilt to the Mk2 configuration with a new aluminum hull, which offered more room and better protection, and with a modified fuel system and suspension. The vehicles also received slat armor, which catches a projectile before it reaches the hull, and they came into service in 2011.
Finish and paint the running gear before you attach the slat armor, because afterwards you will not reach it. Glue the slat parts slowly and keep checking that they are flat, as a bent frame shows at once. The sand camouflage is a single color, so bring it to life with color modulation over the large areas and with heavy dust on the running gear. Paint the stowed equipment away from the model and fit it at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
