An extensive detail set for the PT-596 torpedo boat in 1:35 scale, made up of photo-etch and resin. Target kit: Italeri.
Responsibility details are not available.
A detail set in photo-etch and polyurethane resin for the large kit of the American eighty-foot Elco motor torpedo boat. It replaces plastic parts of simplified shape with metal and cast ones. On a hull that long the difference in refinement shows up really markedly. The castings are shaped for the Italeri kit.
The Elco yard built eighty-foot torpedo boats with a plywood hull and three Packard twelve-cylinder gasoline engines. In the Pacific they attacked Japanese supply convoys, carried reconnaissance patrols and operated mainly at night, when a speed of around forty knots gave them a hope of getting away. The armament differed from boat to boat and changed during the war; 12.7 mm machine guns were complemented by cannons and by equipment for launching torpedoes.
First go through which plastic parts have to come off, and remove them before you close the hull. Bend the metal in a bending tool, hold fine railings with tweezers and join them in shorter sections. Wash the resin castings and free them of their casting blocks. Anchor the metal surfaces with a primer before painting and protect the finished boat with matte varnish.
The kit of the boat itself is sold separately and is not in the price of the set.
