MiniArt extends its wide range of German three-ton trucks with the early production of the 3,6-36S type in the cab form the manufacturer designates PmQ. The kit in 1:35 scale fits into a family of related subjects on the same chassis, which includes cargo trucks, a tanker and a field kitchen — together they make up a complete picture of German logistics.
Three-ton trucks were the backbone of supply for the German army in the Second World War. They carried ammunition, provisions and soldiers on every front, and it is no exaggeration to say that no offensive managed without them. The early production differed from the later simplified forms in a number of details that this kit captures for the opening period of the type's service.
Assemble the ladder frame with its axles on a glass surface so that the vehicle does not sit lopsided. The wooden surfaces of the cargo bed look convincing after a light base coat, oil streaking and a fine wash. Glue the tarpaulin bows and the small grab handles on only after the main painting, because that makes masking easier. Once the tires are varnished, dust them with dry pigment and let the traces rise up the sides, as if the vehicle had driven through a muddy road. Fill the load bed with crates and drums from accessory sets, because an empty cargo truck looks unfinished in a display case.
