Injection-molded plastic kit of the German project tank E-50 Standardpanzer in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The E-50 was the medium to heavier member of the Entwicklung development series and was to replace the medium and heavy tanks of the day with a single design that would be simpler to build. The vehicle remained a paper project; the model captures its appearance according to surviving drawings and reconstructions. The silhouette recalls the late German tanks, with a long gun in a large turret.
Toward the end of the Second World War the Entwicklung series was meant to unify German tracked vehicles into a few standardized classes sharing as many parts as possible. The E-50 represented the medium class, with an estimated weight of around fifty tons, and was to replace the existing medium and heavy tanks. It differed from its heavier relative, the E-75, in its lighter structure, smaller number of road wheels per side and lower weight, which was to make it faster and cheaper to produce. The project never got past the drawing board.
Finish and paint the running gear before the Schürzen cover it. Glue the plastic with a liquid cement for plastic models and sand the joints. Apply a primer before painting. The large surfaces are ideal for late German camouflage schemes laid down with an airbrush; on a project vehicle the scheme is always to some extent the modeler's own choice. Depth comes from the final washes and from pigments imitating dust and mud.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
