An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy tank destroyer Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger in the form with Henschel running gear, in 1:35 scale from Hobby Boss. The model captures a massive subject with a low casemate and a long large-caliber gun. The Henschel running gear is recognized by its nine road wheels on each side, and the set offers a detailed rendering of both the hull and the running gear.
The Jagdtiger was the heaviest series-produced tank destroyer of the Second World War. Built on the lengthened chassis of the Tiger II, it carried an exceptionally powerful 12.8 cm anti-tank gun in a fixed casemate, able to destroy Allied tanks at long range. Two versions of the running gear were built, Porsche and Henschel, and the Henschel form had nine road wheels per side. The high weight limited the mobility and the reliability of the vehicle.
Finish and paint the running gear and the lower hull first, and only then close up the superstructure and fit the gun. The tracks and the photo-etched parts call for different glues. Lay the base coat on with an airbrush over primer; bring out the late-war camouflage with washes in the hollows, dust and mud pigments and fine edge highlighting.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
