Injection-molded plastic kit of the German experimental Heuschrecke IVb self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the characteristic feature of the real vehicle: a rotating gun turret carrying a howitzer, which could be lifted off the hull with a lifting frame and set on the ground as a static position. The box contains parts in gray plastic, photo-etched extras, a metal chain and one-piece moldings of the lower and upper hull.
The Heuschrecke IVb was a prototype of the so-called Waffenträger, a weapon carrier derived from the chassis of the Panzer IV tank. It carried a 105 mm field howitzer in a rotating turret that could be lifted off and used on its own. Only a few trial vehicles were built and the concept never reached production.
Liquid cement for plastic and careful assembly of the running gear and the turret mechanism before the hull is closed are recommended. Apply the base with an airbrush over primer and create weathering with washes and pigments for dust and mud effects. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
