The ruins of a house based on the rural buildings of the Ardennes, 1:35 scale. The basis of a tableau that sets where the scene takes place on its own.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for building dioramas in the form of the ruins of a dwelling house, shaped after the buildings of the Ardennes. The Ardennes are a wooded upland on the borders of Belgium, Luxembourg and France, and the village dwellings there have a distinctive character that sets the place of the action of a tableau straight away.
A ruin is rewarding in a scene for two reasons. First, it gives the composition a vertical mass for the gaze to stop at, so that a model in front of it stands out. Second, it allows a look inside: a demolished wall opens the interior and the tableau thereby gains a second plane. It will serve well as a background behind a vehicle, as a backdrop for figures, or as a whole tableau in its own right, completed only with a few small items and a hint of greenery.
Wash and degrease the surfaces before painting, and cut excess material and traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade and sand them down. Paint the masonry from a lighter base and only then layer dark glazes into the joints and the corners, and lift the edges with a dry brush. Plaster looks truer when it has a different shade from the exposed stone beneath it and when it flakes away only in places. Pour the rubble at the foot of the wall from grit and fine sand and bind it with thinned PVA glue. If you set the scene in winter, let the snow lie only where it would really fall, that is, on horizontal surfaces and in the lee, not evenly over the whole structure.
The package contains the accessory named. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
