A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli M109A2 Doher self-propelled howitzer in 1:35 scale from AFV Club. The extensive kit stands out for the crisply molded detail of the hull and the turret, a metal barrel and a range of metal accessories. According to the manufacturer the package also includes a resin figure of an Israeli soldier, personal weapons and rounds with cartridge cases. It is a demanding kit aimed at accuracy, suited rather to experienced modelers.
The M109A2 Doher is the Israeli version of the American tracked 155 mm M109 self-propelled howitzer with a rotating gun turret and a long barrel. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) adopted this variant and gradually replaced the older models of the M109 range with it. The characteristic changes of the Israeli version are a reworked commander's cupola and machine guns for self-defense for both the commander and the gunner on the turret.
Given the number of parts and the emphasis on accuracy, work patiently and without haste. Assemble and paint the running gear and the turret detail first, and only then close the assembly up. Degrease the metal barrel and lay on a primer for metal. Spray with an airbrush in the Israeli gray-green (IDF Sinai Grey); washes into the recesses and pigments for desert dust on the running gear and the lower part of the hull add realism. Wash the resin figure free of mold release agent before gluing and glue it with super glue.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
