An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Jagdpanther II tank destroyer in 1:35 scale from Amusing Hobby. The real subject remained only in project documentation, which makes the model an interesting what-if subject for collectors of paper projects. The set contains photo-etched parts, above all for the engine deck grilles, a metal tow cable, and offers well worked-out running gear and a massive fighting superstructure.
The Jagdpanther II was a German project for a heavy tank destroyer based on the Panther II chassis. The design provided for a closed fighting superstructure at the rear and a powerful 128 mm gun, which was to destroy opponents at long range. The vehicle, however, remained on paper and was never built; it ended at the stage of a project and drawings. It thus belongs among the so-called paper panzers, the unfinished German design intentions from the end of the Second World War.
Assemble the running gear first; give attention to the patient building of the link-by-link tracks. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and attach the photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply a primer and spray the late-war German camouflage of your choice with an airbrush with soft transitions. Bring out the panel joints and the welds with a wash and apply pigments to the running gear for mud and dust effects. Because it is a project, keep the markings restrained.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
