An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese wheeled reconnaissance vehicle for the detection of weapons of mass destruction (NBC) in 1:35 scale from Trumpeter. According to the manufacturer the box contains, besides the plastic parts, a metal axle shaft, a small photo-etched fret and clear plastic for the windows and the periscopes. The model faithfully captures the characteristic outlines of this specialized vehicle.
The NBC detection vehicle, for nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, serves the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) to survey contaminated ground. It was brought into service in the 1980s on a wheeled armored chassis. It gives the crew protection while the vehicle searches potentially affected areas and measures the presence of hazardous substances. It is modern specialized equipment of the postwar era.
With vehicles it pays to finish and paint the running gear and the interior before you close the hull. Use thin cement for plastic and bond the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Glue the clear plastic for the windows and the periscopes in only after painting. Apply a primer before painting and spray with an airbrush. The modern green or multi-color scheme is nicely brought to life by weathering: dark washes emphasize the panel gaps and the rivets, while dust pigments on the running gear and the underside give the vehicle authenticity.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
