The front version of a 1:35 diorama base for a scene with a Kübelwagen. The groundwork is finished and shaped; the final view is completed by your own assembled model, figures and paints according to the front you choose.
Responsibility details are not available.
In the German army the term Kübelwagen took hold for open cars with bucket seats into which the crew literally sank. The Type 82 took that role over and became the most widespread light car of the Wehrmacht. The body of flat pressed sheet metal was cheap to produce, the canvas roof folded down and the whole car was so light that four men could lift it out of the mud.
This version works with the space in front of the car. It is from the front that the Type 82 shows off its characteristic hood with the stowed spare wheel and its flat nose, and the scene builds its composition around that, the part a camera reads first.
The base is not a consumable. Once it is painted and set up, it serves as long as its owner likes it and nothing on it degrades. Many modelers keep such a scene as a permanent photographic backdrop and photograph one finished piece after another on it, because the groundwork itself points to no particular machine.
The same size is also used in tabletop games and for collectible figures of the Second World War, so the base easily becomes gaming terrain or a display base. It can be set up with vehicles from another manufacturer as well, as long as they are of comparable dimensions. Anyone building for competitions and shows will above all appreciate that the finished scene travels in one piece and does not have to be put together again before every installation.
