A plastic kit of the Standard N (1935 model) utility tractor by MiniArt in 1:35 scale. It is a new mold with a finely reproduced surface, photo-etched parts for extra detail and clear parts for the headlight lenses. A decal sheet with several marking options is included. The model faithfully captures the rugged pressed-sheet construction, the exposed four-cylinder engine and the characteristic wheels.
The Standard N was a typical general-purpose tractor of the 1930s and 1940s — an everyday workhorse that plowed fields during the week and was called up for utility and towing duties in wartime. It pulled trailers, ammunition and bomb carts and portable generator sets. The exposed inline four-cylinder engine, the simple frame and the massive wheels are characteristic of this class of machine. The tractor is a rewarding subject for civilian and military rear-area dioramas alike.
The exposed engine and transmission are worth painting in detail before the chassis is closed up. Use thin liquid cement on the plastic and attach the photo-etch with super glue. Apply a primer before painting and spray the color with an airbrush if you can. Tractors suit a matter-of-fact patina — earth and dust effects on the wheels and chassis with washes and pigments, and chipped paint along the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
