This injection-molded plastic kit from Italeri contains the famous American LCVP landing craft, known as the Higgins boat, together with a numerous set of American infantry and crew figures. The box is aimed at depicting landing operations and contains a detailed boat interior, a movable bow ramp and a decal sheet.
The LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) was a flat-bottomed landing craft developed by Higgins Industries. It carried infantry and light vehicles from the supply ships straight onto the beaches and became a symbol of the amphibious operations of World War II in Europe and in the Pacific. It took up to about thirty men and its lowered bow ramp allowed them to land quickly.
Paint the hull of the boat and its interior before closing it up, so that the wooden and metal surfaces stand out. Glue and paint the figures separately; the faces and the uniforms come to life after a wash for shading and drybrushing. A combination of gray-blue and a wooden deck color suits the hull, and the ramp and the sides can be weathered with a wash. Finish the dust and the traces of water in the bottom of the boat with pigments for a lively scene.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
