This injection-molded plastic kit from the manufacturer Bronco captures the modern American armored tactical vehicle M1114 (Up-Armored HMMWV / Humvee) in 1:35 scale. The set contains a finely rendered chassis, a cab interior, clear parts for the glazing and photo-etched metal; the exact contents are given on the box.
The M1114 is the up-armored version of the well known multipurpose HMMWV, nicknamed the Humvee. It came about as an answer to the need for better crew protection: the armor and the strengthened structure protect against small arms fire, artillery shell splinters and partly against mines as well. The powertrain and the 4x4 chassis of the proven Humvee remained the basis, but the designers added an armored cab and thicker glazing, so the vehicle gained markedly in weight. The M1114 was widely used on overseas deployments of the US Army, in Iraq and Afghanistan among others, in versions with various superstructures and protection for the gunner in the roof turret.
Assemble and paint the chassis and the cab interior before you close the body up - the inside is not accessible afterward. Mask the glazing before spraying so that it stays clear. On modern equipment a cleaner base with targeted weathering looks good: dust and mud on the chassis and the fenders with pigments, light paint wear with a dry brush on the edges and the handles. An airbrush suits both the desert sand and the three-color NATO scheme (black, brown, green) best.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
