The M113 appeared at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s as a light armored personnel carrier for taking a fully armed infantry squad close to the battlefield. Aluminum armor kept the weight down and gave it good mobility and the ability to swim. The vehicle first saw mass use in Vietnam, where the early versions carried a 12.7 mm machine gun. With more than eighty thousand built, the M113 became one of the most widespread armored vehicles in the world and serves in many armies to this day.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic. Assemble and paint the link-and-length tracks before finishing the hull, and do the same with the road wheels and the interior if you want to show it. Apply primer and cover with an airbrush; choose olive green or a multi-tone camouflage according to the service you are depicting. Bring out the panel lines with a wash and add mud and dust pigments to the running gear.
