A German grenade crate 1:35 by Plusmodel: four crates and decals. An accessory for a diorama, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Hand grenades were carried in wooden crates with a lid and metal hardware, and at firing positions open crates were left within reach. On a diorama it is an object that speaks: it shows that a fight is being waited for here, and at the same time it fills an area by a wall or in a trench. The set contains four crates and decals with period markings, which are exactly what sets a crate apart from an ordinary box. It is not a kit but an accessory for a scene.
According to the manufacturer the package contains four crates and a decal sheet. Grenades, paints and glue are not included. The parts have to be cut from the casting blocks.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears from the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and true the surfaces up with a file, and sand with respiratory protection. It is bonded with super glue, that is cyanoacrylate. Leave the wood painted unevenly and pick the hardware out in a darker metal shade. Apply the decals onto a gloss surface, then unify the whole with matte varnish and let a dark penetrating coat flow into the joints between the boards.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
