An interior is recognized by its small things. A bare wall conveys nothing, whereas a framed portrait, a landscape or a scene above the sideboard says more about the occupants than the furniture does. The set combines two materials: the reproductions themselves are printed on paper, and the frames for them are cast in resin.
A canvas measuring seventy by ninety centimeters shrinks in 1:35 to twenty by twenty-six millimeters. On an area like that, the composition, the color balance and the overall light or dark impression all hold up, but a face in a portrait already takes up a fraction of a millimeter. Choose subjects with a strong arrangement, then, rather than fine draughtsmanship - that will never tell at the distance from which the scene is viewed anyway.
Cut the paper exactly to the opening of the frame, glue it from behind with a thin layer of PVA glue and let it dry under a weight, otherwise it will curl. The frame will take gilding, dark wood stain or a flaking white finish, depending on the setting you are building.
So that the picture does not look like a sticker, glue it only along the top edge and let the bottom stand a tenth of a millimeter off the wall. That creates a shadow which gives the part thickness. A frame hung crooked and a lighter rectangle of plaster behind it then tell a story on their own. In a shot-up room it pays to lay one piece broken on the floor, glass down, because details like that are exactly what the eye reads before it reads the walls.
