This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:35 scale from MiniArt represents a railway flat (unbraked) wagon with a payload of 16.5 tons from around the time of the First World War. The drop sides can be built folded down or raised, the wagon has working wheels and it can be assembled for European or Russian gauge. A photo-etched fret and a piece of rail are included.
Flat wagons of this type served to carry freight, vehicles and guns by rail. The unbraked form means that the wagon had no brake of its own and was marshalled into a train between braked wagons. The low deck with drop sides made loading and unloading easy.
On a wagon, assemble the underframe and the working wheels carefully so that they stand level on the rail. The wooden deck and the sides come alive with underpainting and glazes that bring out the texture of the planks; pick out the metal ironwork with a wash and a hint of rust. Use thin cement on the plastic and spray the model with an airbrush over a base coat. The wagon makes a rewarding basis for a diorama with a vehicle loaded on it.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
